Coaches

Coach Trost is entering his seventh year as the Seneca Valley boys’ varsity head basketball coach. This season will be his 14th year as a head coach and 25th year coaching high school basketball. Prior to Seneca Valley he was a varsity assistant coach at North Hills High School for 11 years. In addition to that he was the head coach at Carlynton High School for two years and Bishop Canevin High School for four years. While at Bishop Canevin, coach Trost had one of the most successful stints in school history. His teams won two section championships in his four years. Prior to his arrival there was only one section title in school history. Twice his team reached the WPIAL semi-finals and once made it to the state semi-finals. The state semi-final berth was the furthest a Bishop Canevin boy’s basketball team had ever advanced in the state tournament.

Coach Trost is a graduate of North Allegheny High School. He later continued his education and basketball career at Juniata College. He resides in Moon Twp. with his wife Jill and two daughters, Madylin and Macy.

Coach Scott Dibble is Head JV and Varsity Assistant Coach for the Seneca Valley Boys Basketball Team. Prior to this role, Dibble spent 25+ years coaching Boys and Girls High School Basketball. His passion as a coach was extended to different levels including Elementary, Middle/High School, College, and AAU. As Head Coach Dibble was responsible for relations with the community, school, learning environment, and players and parents. 

Dibble spent time coaching at Ellwood City Varsity Boys 2022-2023, Ellwood City MS Girls & Boys (Head Coach) 2020-2021, Bishop Canevin HS (Head Coach) 2017-2019, Bishop Canevin HS (Associate Head Coach) 2015-2017, New Castle HS (Head Coach) 2012-2015,  C.C.B.C. MEN’S (Assistant Coach) 2011-2012, Villa Maria Academy (Head Coach) 1999-2011. During Dibble’s twelve years at Villa Maria, he led them to the state championship 6 times, winning gold 3 times. He was PIAA State Coach of the Year in 2009 & 2010. At Bishop Canevin he helped produce 3 straight WPIAL Titles as well as 2 straight PIAA State Championship appearances.

Coach McCauley is a 2011 graduate of Seneca Valley, where he played multiple varsity sports. Justin returned to SV to help with the basketball program after graduating from Ohio University in 2015. Justin is excited to be at Seneca Valley to support the program’s growth and success.

Coach Brooks is in his 5th year as an assistant coach at Seneca Valley and has been coaching basketball for 17 years. He started coaching with the Seneca Valley Youth Basketball teams. He also coached AAU for various teams throughout those years. He recently was an assistant coach for the Vincentian Academy Royals for 4 years where he helped lead his team to winning three WPIAL championships. They also made it to the state finals. Gary is a certified PIAA basketball official.

Gary is married to Mary and has three sons, Cole, Jake, and Mike.
